On Discretion
The Ledger's methodology, such as it is.
The Rubric has a methodology and prints it on the back page. The Ledger has one rule that differs and a great many that do not.
What Differs
- (1) Columns, not names. The Rubric names its subjects because a congregation has the right to know who is being graded. The men in this book did not agree to be graded in these columns, and so they are the Young Adult Minister, the Confessor, the Top Bunk, the Verger, the Driver, and one man who has a name in every other book I keep and will not have one here until he has read this one.
- (2) Nothing the Rubric prints. The Rubric is the edition of record. The Ledger has no edition. It has a pocket.
What Does Not
- (1) Letter grades, numbered Infractions, durations, furniture, what was said, what was found afterward.
- (2) I do not describe what I felt. I describe what I did with my hands.
- (3) One Correction per entry. It corrects the Rubric.
- (4) Grades are final.
On the Frames
The camera has a timer. The timer has a light. Every man in this book has seen the light and not one has asked it to be turned off. 314 receives the SD card in the crease of the paper on Fridays. She posts what she posts. I have marked one frame per entry. She has, so far, agreed with every mark, which I find more unsettling than disagreement would be.
Subscribers are graded on discretion.
